We made it a whole year Linc(k)y boy! I was so nervous to have a boy, but all things considered, you have been way easier than your sister. I am starting to see a little bit of sass (or whatever the name for it is in boy speak) coming out in you, but you are still Mommy's sweet little boy. </span><br />
<span style="background-color: white;">
<br /><a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/33425531802/in/dateposted/" title="5S9A7824"><img alt="5S9A7824" height="800" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/4/3767/33425531802_3546d68dfd_c.jpg" width="534" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br /><a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/33425516342/in/photostream/" title="5S9A7827"><img alt="5S9A7827" height="800" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2869/33425516342_2efbdc4191_c.jpg" width="534" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br /><span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span>
<span style="background-color: white;">You are all boy though. No one is going to stop you from running, jumping, climbing, or plowing into whatever you have your heart set on. You are a force to be reckoned with, and I think that stubbornness may just come from me. We get into battles of will, and it takes you A LONG TIME to back down. Your dad and Nana keep telling me just to do things differently so that we don't have these stand-offs, but I don't want you to think that everyone is going to accommodate you your whole life, so this is a lesson that is best learned now: sometimes you have to do things other people's way--just because they said to do it. It may be your Mommy. It may be a teacher. It may be your boss. It doesn't really matter who the person is. What matters is that you learn to take orders so that someday you can give orders.</span></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span>
<span style="background-color: white;">You are curious about everything that we do, and you have a mechanical mind. You already are figuring stuff out by watching us do things once. I know that the cabinet locks at our house are going to have to be changed soon, you almost have it figured out. I am just hoping that when you do figure it out, it's the pans not the dishes that hit the floor. </span></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span>
<span style="background-color: white;">You are very adventurous. When we go somewhere new, you want to check everything out and look at/touch everything. You were especially curious about all of the different wine racks and bottles at the house we stayed in for Amanda and Cory's wedding. I finally had to move everything out of your reach because you were bound and determined that you could be in charge of moving everything and finding a new spot.</span><br />
<span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span>
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="background-color: yellow;"><span style="background-color: white;">You weigh 24 pounds and one ounce and are 29.5 inches longs. You are growing like a weed, and the doctor said that we can keep doing whatever we are doing. You have the chunkiest thighs, but you get them honestly so I can't complain. </span></span>
<span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span>
<span style="background-color: white;">You traveled to: You had a pretty busy month. We were gone more than we were at home, but it was super fun nonetheless. We went to East Texas for Landry's first birthday party. You went to Melinda's wedding. You went to Kyle, TX for Cory and Amanda's wedding (notice that you were out there for the garter toss). In between there, we kept the roads hot at home running around for various parties and practices. It was CRAZY, but you road it out like a champ!</span><br />
<span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span><a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/32802293824/in/dateposted/" title="2017-03-25_0004"><img alt="2017-03-25_0004" height="800" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2948/32802293824_c7ec392330_c.jpg" width="538" /></a><br />

<span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span>
<span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white;">You Eat: Everything an anything. As soon as your birthday rolled around, we gave you cake, eggs, and anything else you wanted. How could we deny you? You are the best eater ever, and you deserve to try what you've been missing out on. The best part is that even though you have had sugar and salt, you still eat baby food and other stuff if we feed it to you...it's like you are magical!</span><br />
<span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span>
<span style="background-color: white;">You Like: playing outside, going for walks in the stroller, drinking things from a straw, eating anything we give you, snuggling with Mommy (unless you'd rather be running), comfort nursing, walking all over the house and getting into stuff, playing with your toys (or Emmy's toys), getting into the cabinets at Nana's house (the plastic cup drawer is your specialty), climbing on anything that isn't gated (and climbing on the gate), general mischief, SWEETS, going to the park and getting to play on the AstroTurf, playing hide and seek, and all your new toys (dump truck and slide are your favorites).</span><br />
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="background-color: yellow;"><br /></span>
<span style="background-color: white;">You Dislike: the word No, being kept up past your bedtime, being alone in the dark while you are awake, being hungry, being told no, having to be patient, lying down to take a nap (but you love sleep once you are out for the count), getting your diaper changed (you want to grab, roll, and move everything that you have going on), having your speed impeded, and not getting to grab anything you see and put it in your mouth.</span></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span>
<span style="background-color: white;">You Say: mama, dada, buh, bye, ba, rah, nah, no, nana, pa (papa), b, and we are starting to hear you mimic more things that we say. Your daddy swears up and down that you said puppy the other day, and I said something about Mrs. Rita and you said something that sounded just like Rita right afterward.</span><br />
<span style="background-color: white;"><br /></span>
<span style="background-color: white;"> Teeth: 3 (bottom middle three). The top left is super swollen and about to come through though.</span><br />

I can't wait to see the world through your eyes!</span>Ashleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05764676825066373112noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2601437807236271607.post-55221844715212505242016-04-01T21:51:00.000-07:002017-03-25T10:52:47.844-07:00Lincoln- Month ElevenIf we had a walker last month, we almost have a runner this month! The progress that you have made in such a short time just astounds me, and I am mesmerized wondering what you will do next. You had a lot of firsts this month. You had your first St. Patrick's Day, spring break, and Easter. You loved them all. It was especially fun watching you toddle around and pick up eggs. After you found two or three, you were good. You just wanted to hold them in your hand like you had found a big prize. You also got to have your first sleep-over at Nana's house when I went to Fredericksburg for Melinda's bachelorette party. I really missed you, but you had a grand old time without me. You did light up when I walked in the door though, so my ego was sufficiently assuaged. <br />
<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/32767092833/in/dateposted/" title="JCH_4892"><img alt="JCH_4892" height="800" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/3/2863/32767092833_30a6bacca7_c.jpg" width="534" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
<br />
You weigh 22.8 pounds (not much of a gain from last month), and you are 28.75 inches. When Papa was holding you the other day, you looked so long. I think you are finally stretching out again. For a while, all of your pants were puddling by your feet, but I think that everything is finally leveling out again.<br />
<br />
<br />
You traveled to Nana's house for a sleepover, to Houston to watch Aunt Rah-Rah try on wedding dresses, to Overton to stay with Aunt Nancy, to Gigi's house for the end of Spring Break, the farm park, and to La Grange to take Blue Bonnet photos. It was a really busy month for us, but you were a champ.<br />
<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/33540259866/in/dateposted/" title="IMG_5558"><img alt="IMG_5558" height="800" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/4/3755/33540259866_198be94812_c.jpg" width="534" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>

<br />
<br />
You Eat: ANYTHING that we put in front of you. You were a really eager eater at daycare this month, and they let you start eating the regular lunch on most days. They just run your food through a grinder to break it up, and you eat it all like it's going out of style. At home, I still feed you some baby food for convenience, but you are eating food we eat too if it is soft enough. <br />
<br />
You Like: your gumball machine that we got you for Christmas, going for walks in the stroller, drinking things from a straw, eating "table food," snuggling with Mommy, comfort nursing, walking all over the house and getting into stuff, playing with your toys (or Emmy's toys), getting into the cabinets at Nana's house, climbing the stairs, general mischief, chewing on everything, going to the park and getting to play on the AstroTurf, playing hide and seek, and being outside.<br />
<br />
You Dislike: teething, being sleepy (we NEED to be home by 9:00 so you can go to sleep or you are grumpy), being alone in the dark while you are awake, being hungry, being told no, having to be patient, lying down to take a nap (but you love sleep once you are out for the count), having to sit still to get dressed or get a diaper change, getting picked up if you want to run, Maggie (and she doesn't deserve your scorn), and having to eat baby food if you want our food.<br />
<br />
You Say: mama, dada, buh, bye, ba, rah, nah, no, and muh.<br />
<br />
Teeth: 3 (bottom middle three).<br />
<br />
Your monthy photos are getting harder and harder to take. You are a wiggly fighting little worm!<br />

After many fake-outs and moments of teasing with us watching you with camera laden hands, you are finally taking steps. We aren't running any marathons any time soon, but you can take a few steps before lowering yourself back down to your bottom. You've been ready for a few weeks, but you just needed to build your balance and confidence. I know that now that you can do this, things are really about to change at our house. Most of the baby-proofing from your sister is still intact, but there are few loose ends that will need to be taken care of. You have such a logical mind like your Daddy. I can see you watching us as we do things and then trying to do them for yourself. You are already trying to get into the cabinets, and your Daddy caught you trying to fit your head into the space between the gate and the stairs to try and gain entrance to your holy grail--the stairs. You can climb up those stairs as fast as lightening. Thankfully the first time you tried it, I was standing right behind you so I decided to see how far you could get while I was there to catch you. YOU MADE IT TO THE TOP! Then to make matters worse, you turned around and smiled at me like "Ha ha. I made it." My poor little heart isn't ready for such a charming little dare devil.<br />

You are 22.1 lbs and 28 inches. I think some of the weight gain can be attributed to the fact that we are letting you try all kinds of new foods lately. I was a by-the-book kind of girl with your sister, and I have been pretty good with you until recently. I think I have fallen off the wagon though, and I'm not sure you will let me go back. You really love all of it, and with every fork that is brought to my lips, I can feel you staring me down for more of whatever I have. <br />

You traveled to go buy your daddy a new car and out for dinner and shopping several times, but we were too busy with parties, church, and work to go anywhere too far from home. Spring break is coming up though, so I'm sure I will get you out and about soon.<br />

You also got to try some special things like tea (thanks Papa), banana pudding, whipped cream, refried beans, rice, avocado, and other soft things. Your teachers and I decided that they can start letting you try some of the regular daycare food on days when it is something you could manage eating. I can't get over how eager of an eater you are. We haven't really found anything that you don't like.<br />
<br />
You Like: your gumball machine that we got you for Christmas (you can even pick up the balls and put them back in yourself now), going for walks in the stroller, riding in the tank carts at the store where you can see everything, drinking things from a straw, eating "table food," snuggling with Mommy, comfort nursing, walking around and showing off for your adoring audience, playing with your toys (or Emmy's toys), getting into Mommy's shelves, general mischief, using that new tooth, playing hide and seek, and being outside.<br />
<br />
You Dislike: teething, being alone in the dark, being hungry, running out of snacks, having to be patient, lying down to take a nap (but you love sleep once you are out for the count), having to sit still to get dressed or get a diaper change, being told no, falling down while trying to walk, Maggie (and she doesn't deserve your scorn), and not being able to do your own thing.<br />

You also make a motorboat like noise and have loud shrieks. I also could have sworn that you said nah the other day which means the dreaded no is just around the corner.<br />
<br />
Teeth: 1 (bottom right).<br />

You are 20.4 lbs and 27 inches.<br />
<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/32693042944/in/photostream/" title="IMG_3027"><img alt="IMG_3027" height="534" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/4/3954/32693042944_022ca1c4b9_c.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
You are a tornado that has hit us unexpectedly, and we are all grasping for straws trying to keep up with you. You crawl at lightning speed all over the house. You are now able to pull up on the furniture and walk along the couches. You dive head first into the unknown, and I don't mean this metaphorically. You actually dove into your little red car head first the other day. I laughed until you started to cry, which brings us to all of the head traumas. Your daddy is threatening to make you wear a helmet if you don't stop bumping your head on everything. We counted the other evening, and you hit your head five times before I picked you up and swore to never put you back down. When you sit at your high chair, you will excitedly bang the back of your head against the chair as we feed you. My poor little heart cannot take the stress that you are forcing on it.<br />
<br />
BUT--because you knew there would be a but-- you are also the sweetest little boy the world has ever known. You cling to me in the mornings and rub my arm; you snuggle up and watch TV with me just because you want to be held. You also give the best little kisses and hugs a girl could ask for. So maybe being a boy mom isn't so bad.<br />
<br />
Other than being super mobile, you are also trying all kinds of new foods. You have tried almost all of the different Gerber puffs and yogurt bites, and you LOVE THEM ALL. I'm pretty sure you would eat the whole bag if I let you, which I almost do at church to keep you quiet. <br />

You had your first Christmas, and you loved all of the lights on the tree, brightly wrapped packages, and extra love that you got from family. You wear size 6-9 month clothes and size three diapers. You weigh 19.35 pounds and are 26.5inches.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
You can drink water from a sippy cup now, and you have almost mastered the art of holding it up high enough to get your water from it. We found Tommy Tippee sippy cups that were for 7+ months and it is awesome. The doctor would like for you to drink six to eight ounces of water a day, so we all have water goals for the new year.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
You are crawling all over the place now, and you are SO FAST! We can't set you down anywhere and expect you to be there for very long. You are also pulling up on everything and trying to let go and stand by yourself. It is times like these that make me wish we had tacky shag carpet. You have fallen a few times on the tile, and it breaks my heart every time. It doesn't seem to phase you, but I still have ice packs on standby. Since you won't stay on the area rug, we have also resorted to pulling out the pack-n-play. You are content to play in there as long as we are all in the room, but if we leave, you are highly upset.<br />
<br />
In fun news, you went to Nutcracker with the ladies group from church, and you behaved like a dream. You slept almost the entire first act until the clapping woke you up. Then you play during intermission, and slept part of the second act. While you were awake you were enraptured with the beautiful dancers and lights. I was pretty nervous beforehand, but you couldn't have done any better if I had planned it all out myself. <br />
<br />
You got to be in the Christmas play at church! You were baby Jesus during the manger scene, and it was quite adorable if I do say so myself. (You get a good part when your Mom is the director and you are the only baby boy at church.) </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
During this month you went to the Christmas mall, you watched The Nutcracker in Stafford, you went to Henry's party in College Station, you went to Channelview for Christmas Eve, you went to Beaumont for Christmas Day, and you traveled to Gigi's house for New Year's. You also got to attend the El Campo Christmas parade, and we did lots and lots of Christmas shopping this month. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Speaking of Christmas, you will really really enjoyed all of the packages. You love the colors, you loved all the different shapes and sizes, and you loved when it was time to tear open the paper. You liked your gifts but I'm not sure that you like them as much as you enjoyed the paper, the bows, and the sound of everything tearing as you ripped into it. We bought you really exciting presents this year like socks ,a new thermometer, clothes, and one fun toy that lights up and sings. I figured we better buy you things you needed instead of just more stuff to sit around the house, and don't worry you got lots of toys from your other relatives.</div>
<div>
<br />
You eat: green beans, peas, squash, sweet potatoes, carrots, butternut squash, apples, bananas, prunes with apples (only if you are feeling a bit clogged), banana puffs, banana yogurt bites, and the Gerber maple syrup puffs (who even knew they made such a thing). You still drink milk (5- 5.5 ounces at a time) and water (5 ounces a day).<br />
<br />
You love: crawling, pulling up on the furniture, your new car, the rubber duck, all your new snacks, splashing in the bath tub, clicking the keys on a keyboard, grabbing things with your ever developing pitching reflex, giving kisses, snuggling at bed time, and eating (we haven't found much that you don't like).<br />
<br />
You dislike: being alone, having stuff taken away from you (like leaves you found on the floor), not being fed fast enough, being strapped into your seat if we aren't in the car, waking up in the dark, loud noises, and not getting your way.<br />
<br />

You were playing a little game that I like to call "I Will Not Sit Up for a Picture No Matter How Many Times Mommy Tries" today. It was super fun.<br />

It's been a whirlwind of a month, but you survived your first holiday season. We can't wait for the many more we will share.<br />

The sun was shining, but the wind was also blowing. So while, it was a beautiful day, we weren't going anywhere near the water! <br />
<br />
Our trip was spurred on by the fact that Andrew said he had never been to the Gulf of Mexico. Since it is all of 45 minutes from our house, we knew that a trip was a must.<br />
<br />
Look at my beautiful baby all bundled up in a hodge-podge mix of clothes. We call this style "put on as many layers as possible so you don't freeze."<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/25975925445/in/photostream/" title="2016-03-21_0064"><img alt="2016-03-21_0064" height="540" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/2/1509/25975925445_6f65f6d8f4_c.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
The boys wanted to stroll down the beach and look for shells and driftwood. Kari and I set up shop near the pier, and made a camp for the babies and ourselves. Can you tell we were cold? Look at poor Lincoln's cheeks!<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/25950027626/in/photostream/" title="2016-03-21_0065"><img alt="2016-03-21_0065" height="800" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/2/1525/25950027626_55cc6e3704_c.jpg" width="598" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
He wasn't scared of the grand expanse of water. All he wanted to do was crawl around the blanket and play with the toys we brought. The only problem was that I just wanted him to stay under the blankets where it was warm.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/25675378140/in/photostream/" title="2016-03-21_0066"><img alt="2016-03-21_0066" height="540" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/2/1569/25675378140_48b8d284e9_c.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
Emmy convinced Kari to walk around with her so she could look for shells.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/25855131222/in/photostream/" title="2016-03-21_0067"><img alt="2016-03-21_0067" height="540" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/2/1617/25855131222_a859fc9d9b_c.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
They came back pretty quickly so they could burrow back under the covers.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/25880975551/in/photostream/" title="2016-03-21_0068"><img alt="2016-03-21_0068" height="800" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/2/1651/25880975551_be939dd75c_c.jpg" width="740" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
We did enjoy listening to the waves roll in and taking in all the beauty that comes with being at the beach.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/25855130222/in/photostream/" title="2016-03-21_0069"><img alt="2016-03-21_0069" height="800" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/2/1531/25855130222_b1cb5489a7_c.jpg" width="793" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
Emmy decided that a dance and gymnastic performance was on our agenda. We buy so much stuff to make them happy, but I don't think anything we bought made her as happy as having our undivided attention while she performed and played. Food for thought next year when I am trying to decide what to buy for Christmas.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/25950023926/in/photostream/" title="2016-03-21_0070"><img alt="2016-03-21_0070" height="800" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/2/1713/25950023926_8d7118a278_c.jpg" width="793" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
After a while, we decided to go and explore on the jetties. Kari found a walking stick and proceeded to start climbing and jumping way farther than she had any right to. She made some comment about needing to put her yoga pants to work...or something to that effect.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/25950023016/in/photostream/" title="2016-03-21_0071"><img alt="2016-03-21_0071" height="800" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/2/1551/25950023016_39f7263bc3_c.jpg" width="598" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
Before we knew it, we were chilled to the bone, and Dad called and said he was making chili at his house. That was all of the incentive we needed to pack our stuff up and head back to EC.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/25343227444/in/photostream/" title="2016-03-21_0072"><img alt="2016-03-21_0072" height="375" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/2/1692/25343227444_b14d17fd4c_c.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
Lincoln's first beach trip was a success. Maybe next time he will actually get to go in the water. ;)<br />
<br />Ashleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05764676825066373112noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2601437807236271607.post-10816696749946146142015-12-19T21:44:00.000-08:002017-04-01T21:47:13.989-07:00Henry's 5th Birthday PartyIn the heart of December, we traveled to College Station for Henry's 5th birthday part at the College Station Museum of Science. They had an adorable party room set up and ready for fun. The kids entertained themselves by playing with plush snakes and frogs while they waited to eat snacks.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/25950021586/in/photostream/" title="2016-03-21_0073"><img alt="2016-03-21_0073" height="540" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/2/1649/25950021586_fea8b76d21_c.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
Next, they traveled to a room where museum employees brought out real animals for them to touch and learn about. They were a rapt audience!<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/25975918835/in/dateposted/" title="2016-03-21_0074"><img alt="2016-03-21_0074" height="800" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/2/1560/25975918835_1999542919_c.jpg" width="793" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
Henry was so brave and said that yes he would pet the snake. When they got to Emmy, she gave them a you-are-freaking-crazy look and said, "No thanks."<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/25880969971/in/photostream/" title="2016-03-21_0075"><img alt="2016-03-21_0075" height="800" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/2/1652/25880969971_c4dfd2a001_c.jpg" width="598" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
Lincoln entertained himself by crawling around on the floor looking for pieces of lint to put in his mouth. Oh the joys of having tiny humans. It was super exciting to get to see Avery!!<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/25855123842/in/photostream/" title="2016-03-21_0076"><img alt="2016-03-21_0076" height="800" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/2/1720/25855123842_726d32d72a_c.jpg" width="793" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
The next station was in another room where the children got to decorate foam snakes. Emmy showed off her mad penmanship skills and wrote her name on her snake. Thanks Methodist for making me look like a rock star at the party!<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/25855122572/in/photostream/" title="2016-03-21_0077"><img alt="2016-03-21_0077" height="277" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/2/1548/25855122572_a4f873ea38_c.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
We went back to the party room and had cake. It was adorable, and Henry seemed to think it tasted pretty good too!<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/25975915185/in/photostream/" title="2016-03-21_0078"><img alt="2016-03-21_0078" height="800" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/2/1712/25975915185_c782abe4e8_c.jpg" width="766" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
After they finished cake, the kids went on a scavenger hunt in the museum, and I stayed in the main room to hang out and talk to Lauren. Can you believe that no so long ago, we were high school kids trying to decide if we wanted Taco Bell or McDonald's for lunch? Now we both have two babies and we are throwing birthday parties and doing our best to adult. Time is crazy!<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/25950016146/in/photostream/" title="2016-03-21_0079"><img alt="2016-03-21_0079" height="544" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/2/1588/25950016146_4e81cf61f6_c.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>

<br />
<br />
We had a great time at the party, and we sure are going to miss these guys while they venture off to Oklahoma for a new adventure. I'm betting they will come back to visit though!Ashleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05764676825066373112noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2601437807236271607.post-30500266155840226922015-12-19T12:17:00.000-08:002017-04-01T22:22:15.596-07:00The Nutcracker 2015This year, we were invited to attend The Nutcracker with the ladies from our church. Kari was supposed to come down and go with us, but she had to study for a final. Bradley and Lincoln were going to have a Daddy-Baby date, but he had to go to San Antonio for a family member's graduation, so we all headed out for an afternoon at the ballet. I was very nervous about how my very active little boy was going to do.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/25950034446/in/photostream/" title="2016-03-21_0058"><img alt="2016-03-21_0058" height="598" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/2/1656/25950034446_c46dd6342d_c.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
Our seats were amazing. We were five rows back, and we were almost dead center. If you are in Houston and planning on going to The Nutcracker, I high recommend attending a performance at the Stafford Center. It is a smaller production, but it was so convenient and affordable. Mom and Brit went the year before at the Wortham, and they could hardly see what was happening on stage. We were definitely not going to have that issue!<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/25347208423/in/photostream/" title="2016-03-21_0059"><img alt="2016-03-21_0059" height="761" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/2/1671/25347208423_00f0cfbd00_c.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
They chose a special princess to come on stage and meet the principle ballerina. I snapped this photo before the little lady made it there because I thought the dancer looked so regal--like a real princess. Lincoln slept through the first half of the show, and after intermission he started to stir. I pulled out the snacks and silently gave him puffs while he watched the mice running around on the stage. Such a champ!<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/25880981461/in/photostream/" title="2016-03-21_0060"><img alt="2016-03-21_0060" height="540" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/2/1692/25880981461_815d1aab91_c.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
Emmarie LOVED the show. She kept going on and on about how she wanted to be a dancer and how pretty all the dancers were.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/25950031496/in/photostream/" title="2016-03-21_0061"><img alt="2016-03-21_0061" height="800" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/2/1682/25950031496_b4d57d494b_c.jpg" width="665" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
Another benefit to attending a smaller show is that the cast members come out and take photos! We were of course all about that, and Emmy was not shy about jumping in.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/25880979881/in/photostream/" title="2016-03-21_0062"><img alt="2016-03-21_0062" height="800" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/2/1627/25880979881_cce8f71398_c.jpg" width="740" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
Before we left the theater, we put my phone on a brick in the wall and snapped a photo. We had such an amazing time, and I cannot wait to make this into an annual tradition.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/25855133752/in/photostream/" title="2016-03-21_0063"><img alt="2016-03-21_0063" height="540" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/2/1608/25855133752_0cd2600cc0_c.jpg" width="800" /></a><br />
<br />Ashleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05764676825066373112noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2601437807236271607.post-67813197214888135642015-12-01T11:44:00.000-08:002016-02-03T05:45:27.910-08:00Lincoln- Month SevenYou wear six-nine month clothes. You wear size two diapers, but when this box runs out, we are moving to threes. You weigh 18.13 pounds.You are a little over 26 inches.<br />
<br />
You are MOBILE!! You are crawling everywhere and getting into everything! Nothing that is within your grasp is safe. You are super curious, and you will not be deterred. When we are holding you, you immediately grab for hair like it is your safety preserver. You don't let go once you have it within your grasp either. I am constantly pulling strands of my hair out of your fingers.<br />
<br />
If for some reason we don't immediately do what you want to do, you have a new trick that you pull out. YOU SHRIEK LIKE A BANSHEE. I'm not talking about a regular cry or a yell. This is full out what are they doing to that baby; is he dying? I thought that maybe you saved all of that awesomeness for us at home, but your daycare teachers have confirmed that you do it there. In fact, your cries once drew the daycare director down to the nursery to investigate. You are smart though. You know we are no match for that cry; once you start, we all do whatever you want.<br />
<br />
You are eating so many new things these days, which is building other skills as well. You are honing the "crab pinch" to pick up small items with your fingers and thumb. You tried the Gerber puffs (that your sister adored) and you gagged as soon as we put them in your mouth. You hated them. We have found a new use for them though. If you are fussy when I am cooking dinner, I like to put you in your high chair and give you puffs. You practice picking them up and throwing them on the floor. I know that it is wrong to waste food, but sometimes moms just have to do what they need to do to get dinner on the table. I know that your aversion to puffs is only temporary, and I'm sure you will like them soon.<br />
<br />
While we are on the subject of trying new things, let's talk about grandparents. You got to try two new things over the Thanksgiving holidays thanks to your grandparents. Pappy Barnes gave you whipped cream (Mommy and Daddy did not react well) and GiGi fed you a container of baby food that wasn't labeled out of my bag. It turned out that it was a container of apples that I brought for you to try. You loved them of course, but you thought they were a little tart from the description of your reaction that GiGi shared. I'm sure this is only the beginning of the things you will try without our permission. You are reaching for people's plates now and sampling when they aren't looking if you can get your little fingers on stuff. <br />
<br />
You are sitting up like a champ now. if we help you get up, you can sit there forever playing with toys or watching us. You can't quite get to a sitting position by yourself, but I know by next month that skill will be under your belt--no problem.<br />
<br />
You traveled to: a Ricebird football game, Atascocita for photos, Cedar Park to visit family, to Pearland for Ollie's party, Milam to visit GiGi, and to Tyler to see Uncle Bill.<br />
<br />
You like: doing what you want to do, crawling around, looking at and exploring new things (we need to make sure all of our baby proofing is still in tact), playing with the piano bouncer,your Sophie giraffe, the steering wheel toy, being swaddled, your pacifier, snuggling (more so in the evening), and giving big kisses ( you still try to eat/suck on our faces).<br />
<br />
You dislike:Sitting in your car seat if we arent in the car, the word no, mommy walking out of the room at home, not being allowed to crawl wherever, bumping your head, sitting up, puffs, and loud noises.<br />
<br />
You Eat: Green beans, peas, carrots, squash, sweet potatoes, apples, puffs, water, and milk.<br />
<br />
Here are your photos from this month. You are just adorable if I do say so myself.<br />

<br />
The weekend before THanksgiving, we traveled out to the Austin area to see Bradley's family. Lincoln loved crawling around on their area rug. It was a warm day, so we let this guy craw around in just his diaper for a little while. I think he enjoyed it.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/23700250084/" title="2016-01-11_0094"><img alt="2016-01-11_0094" height="375" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1522/23700250084_9f4f5571c3_c.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
Brad's brother is always happy to see the little people, and they were glad to see him too.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/23960655089/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0095"><img alt="2016-01-11_0095" height="800" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1632/23960655089_3cb1ab9d03_c.jpg" width="538" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
Grandma Susan does such a great job of taking time to do things with the grand babies. In the midst of getting Thanksgiving dinner ready, she took time to stop and have a tea party with Emmy. It's those kinds of moments that my baby girl will treasure forever.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24302282806/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0096"><img alt="2016-01-11_0096" height="800" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1598/24302282806_91744b4157_c.jpg" width="793" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
Before we knew it, it was time to eat. The food was delicious!<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
These little cuties weren't hard on the eyes either!<br />

<br />
<br />
Aunt Jessica and Uncle Dan came by to meet Lincoln. Dan even had a spot of tea with Emmy as well. When in doubt pinkies out!<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24220249542/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0101"><img alt="2016-01-11_0101" height="800" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1712/24220249542_302d7617b7_c.jpg" width="598" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
The next week, we drove up to my grandmother's house in Milam. As soon as we got there, Emmy started asking my uncle to take her fishing. I guess the time payed off. She caught one of the biggest bass that they've ever caught off the pier in a matter of minutes! She was on cloud nine and walked around telling everyone about her fish the rest of the weekend.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24302277986/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0102"><img alt="2016-01-11_0102" height="375" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1558/24302277986_953a456f24_c.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>

<br />
<br />
The next day, we prepared and devoured our Thanksgiving day meal. It was delicious and so special since I got to see a lot of my relatives that I only see at Christmas.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24302276616/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0104"><img alt="2016-01-11_0104" height="800" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1446/24302276616_e35df7e0a0_c.jpg" width="704" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>

<br />
<br />
We went fishing again and Bradley got lucky this time. He was so lucky that I made him throw all that luck back in the lake for someone else to enjoy!<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24032870910/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0107"><img alt="2016-01-11_0107" height="598" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1700/24032870910_d51f629b74_c.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
We left on Saturday and traveled over to see my Uncle Bill in the hospital. He was not doing well, and my aunt thought that getting to see the babies might cheer him up. She was pretty excited to meet Lincoln as well.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24328458345/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0108"><img alt="2016-01-11_0108" height="540" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1651/24328458345_9ee6b5c679_c.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
It was a great holiday, and we enjoyed getting to spend time with so many people that we love and care about.Ashleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05764676825066373112noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2601437807236271607.post-80740691969737278722015-11-14T08:37:00.000-08:002016-03-21T13:40:10.069-07:00Our Little Cheerleader<br />
Our local high school cheerleaders held a cheer camp for the little girls of our community. Emmy had been asking me for months when she would get to cheer with the Ricebirds again, so she was really excited when it was finally the big night.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/23700259734/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0083"><img alt="2016-01-11_0083" height="800" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1562/23700259734_7c08ef0dac_c.jpg" width="598" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
You can see that they were all a little nervous when it was time to stand in front of the packed stands.<br />
<div>
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24220263592/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0084"><img alt="2016-01-11_0084" height="800" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1550/24220263592_0ebe618e90_c.jpg" width="793" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
But it didn't take long for them to warm up! </div>
<div>
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/23960662909/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0085"><img alt="2016-01-11_0085" height="800" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1655/23960662909_e2f9f5abbc_c.jpg" width="598" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
This is her favorite cheer where they got to yell out one line and the crowd yelled back. She still says it when we go to the track to walk. </div>
<div>
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/23701656453/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0086"><img alt="2016-01-11_0086" height="540" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1689/23701656453_e3003e7231_c.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
</div>
<div>
I sure do love that big smile!</div>
<div>
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/23960661049/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0087"><img alt="2016-01-11_0087" height="540" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1520/23960661049_295ca9b699_c.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
She was a lot more excited to be on top of the pyramid this year. Now we just need to practice keeping that chin high. :)</div>
<div>
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24220259952/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0088"><img alt="2016-01-11_0088" height="800" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1574/24220259952_382d50830d_c.jpg" width="538" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/23701653893/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0089"><img alt="2016-01-11_0089" height="540" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1538/23701653893_9498468d74_c.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
The birds scored a touchdown during their quarter so they got to cheer and yell with the band.</div>
<div>
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/23700253024/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0090"><img alt="2016-01-11_0090" height="800" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1460/23700253024_24b54ed3a9_c.jpg" width="598" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
The girls were divided into age groups and her group was all smiles.</div>
<div>
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24032885180/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0091"><img alt="2016-01-11_0091" height="800" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1559/24032885180_df58e78781_c.jpg" width="707" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
And as quickly as it started, it was time to head off the track and back into mom's arms...but not before a few pictures with some of our cheerleaders!</div>
<div>
<br />

<br />
<br />
We had to get pictures with her adoring supporters too. They stayed to watch her cheer before leaving to go to East Texas for opening weekend. </div>

You were sick this month! You had some kind of viral infection that was all in your respiratory track, but the gross part was that it led to discharge from your eyes. They were bright red and running constantly for days. You didn't act like it hurt you, but it was pitiful. The doctor released you to go back to daycare, but Aunt Jeslynn watched you at her house for three days. Then your sister got strep, and I got whatever you had so we all got to stay home for two days. Since I never take off, it was glorious. We just relaxed and rested--two whole days of movies and jammies. Then one day your eyes cleared up, and you were as good as new. <br />
<br />
You weigh 17 pounds and 4 ounces. and are 25.5 inches tall. We are moving you into 6-9 month clothes now even though the other ones still fit. There is just too much to wear. It's a problem that every girl wishes she had, but you are the lucky one Lincoln. You will wear size two diapers, and they fit perfectly.</div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">You are rolling all over the place. I will put you down on the floor under your gym, and look over at you a few seconds later and you are long gone. You grab everything and put it in your mouth. You say Mama (10/13) (occasionally) Dada (all the time). You push up on your tummy and hold yourself up for a long time. You screech and scream if you are hungry or if we are taking too long to get you the food. You are fine again as soon as you start eating, but the screams will return if the spoon doesn't. You play with toys on the floor by yourself (especially when you are on your tummy). You are really interested in the lights and motions on the TV. It can distract you easily even while eating. I don't know that you really care what is on (BONUS for Mommy), but anything bright and with sounds is a winner. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">You also got to go trick-or-treating. I didn't actually get to go since I was working the city-wide trick-or-treat, but Daddy and Grandma Susan said you did a great job.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
You traveled: You went to Adalyn's birthday party, National Night Out, the Ray Wedding, the pumpkin patch,Dylan's birthday party, and trick-or-treating!<br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">You like:EATING (we can't feed you fast enough), playing wiht your toys, trying to push up, sitting up, grabbing anything you can get your hands on, feeling everything around you (with your fingers, with your mouth, with your toes), PUMPKINS (you must think they are giant orange amazeballs), your lion, your light up giraffe, staying home with mommy, playing with halloween candy, snuggles, being swaddled, and bath time.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">You dislike: having things taken away, not being fed quickly enough, running out of baby food (it takes your stomach a few minutes to catch up), being woken up from a nap, sore gums, the dark, and not being picked up quickly enough.</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: 'Helvetica Neue Light', HelveticaNeue-Light, helvetica, arial, sans-serif;">You eat:</span>green beans, squash, peas, carrots, water, and milk.<br />

This was just the beginning of the holiday season Lincoln, so the real fun is still to come!</div>

I had grandiose plans of an evening away from the babies jammed packed with dinner, dancing, movies and more, but when the time came to leave, I realized that in this season of our life (the one where I'm still primarily feeding our baby) nights out like that are more work and stress for me than enjoyable. So we stayed around town, but we vowed to try so,etching new and shake it up. It worked out, and we had an amazing evening.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
We put away our phones and just talked about life, love, and what we want in the future. While it wasn't anything spectacular, it was exactly what we needed. </div>

<br /></div>

I love you Bradley and I am so thankful for these seven years that we've spent together.<br />

One of the exciting things about having two kids is that I was finally able to pick out a Halloween "theme" of sorts. I knew that I wanted them to match or go together in some way. My first thought was Elsa and Olaf since we already had an Elsa costume, but then I remembered that every little girl would be Elsa for Halloween. And we try to be <i>slightly</i> original. <br />
<br />
Then sticking with the Disney theme (since she wanted to be a princess), we thought we would do Cinderella and Gus. This would have been super cute, but the only Gus costume I found was just a onesie from the Disney store for $40. If it had been an actual costume, I probably would have done it, but I couldn't stomach that price for a shirt.<br />
<br />
As I was going through Emmy's closet inspiration struck me. Mom had bought her this little saloon girl costume at Cracker Barrel after Halloween last year, and it was still hanging in the closet. The more that I looked at it, the more it looked like Little Red Riding Hood, and our theme was born.<br />
<br />
A little trip to my good friend eBay had this little wolf costume making a bee line for our front door, and just like that, we were in business.<br />
<br />
I knew that I would not get to spend a ton of time with them on Halloween since Interact was working the city-wide trick-or-treat, so we took photos ahead of time. I am super biased, but I think they are adorable.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24220288542/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0055"><img alt="2016-01-11_0055" height="540" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1686/24220288542_93d2c31c82_c.jpg" width="800" /></a><br />
<br />
Little Red Riding Hood was carrying her basket on the way to her grandmother's house.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24302317096/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0056"><img alt="2016-01-11_0056" height="598" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1667/24302317096_32a16d4389_c.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
When she spotted something off in the distance.<br />

<br />
<br />
It was the Big Bad Wolf. <br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24328500735/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0058"><img alt="2016-01-11_0058" height="1024" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1445/24328500735_18c783e2cc_b.jpg" width="476" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>

<br />
<br />
He was super scary, and he did not smile once.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/23701679623/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0060"><img alt="2016-01-11_0060" height="598" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1543/23701679623_1e41bc9a48_c.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
And his big blue eyes did not shine at all.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24245976621/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0061"><img alt="2016-01-11_0061" height="540" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1705/24245976621_154f87c8f0_c.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />

<br />
<br />
But LRRH thought that she could change her story. So she made friends with the wolf, and for now they are living happily ever after. At least until he starts playing with her toys.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24328497275/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0063"><img alt="2016-01-11_0063" height="800" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1546/24328497275_54ce5c4cd6_c.jpg" width="598" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
<br />
The end!<br />
<br />
<br />
I also have a few photos that I got when they came through the line at Trunk-or-treat.<br />
<br />

<br />
It was a really fun night, and although I missed getting to walk around with them while they trick-or-treated, I did have a great time handing out candy to the masses.<br />
<br />
Bradley took a few photos too. I'm training him well.<br />

I have known Cookie since I was a baby, and she has always treated me like family. I spent the night at her house with the big girls, she was my chaperon on church trips, and she let me go places with the older kids when that was all I really wanted. <br />
<br />
When I found out that she was getting married ( and she asked me to take her bridals) I was so excited. If anyone deserves a happily ever after and a dream wedding, it is Iesha.<br />
<br />
Because I decided to adhere to their wishes, I didn't take any photos during the ceremony. Here are some snaps from during the reception though. Every thing was beautiful and we had a great evening.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/23960669299/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0078"><img alt="2016-01-11_0078" height="598" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1607/23960669299_d4aaaeb007_c.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
Because the wedding was held at a historical home, we left Emmy at home. I didn't want to pay for any broken heirlooms.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24245961411/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0079"><img alt="2016-01-11_0079" height="800" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1502/24245961411_af98295ab1_c.jpg" width="704" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
We snapped a couple of pics of these two cuties outside by the vintage car. This was the venue owner's grandmother's car. So cool!<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/23960668039/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0080"><img alt="2016-01-11_0080" height="598" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1672/23960668039_db6f4ba5e4_c.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
I sure do love this lady!<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24328482365/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0081"><img alt="2016-01-11_0081" height="800" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1612/24328482365_fda70cb6b6_c.jpg" width="598" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
To make the night even more memorable, Iesha sang(!) to Keith. Her rendition of "At Last" will always hold a special place in my heart because she sang it at my wedding too. There weren't many dry eyes in the place after the song was over.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24220265872/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0082"><img alt="2016-01-11_0082" height="800" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1537/24220265872_7af68d4610_c.jpg" width="793" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
And like all good things, the night passed by in a blur of excitement and fun. Dances were danced, drinks were partaken in, and memories were made. <br />
<br />
Congratulations Iesha and Keith Ray! Thank you for allowing us to share in the merry!Ashleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05764676825066373112noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2601437807236271607.post-44126220115854711792015-10-11T08:29:00.000-07:002016-01-19T10:51:25.853-08:00The Pumpkin Patch 2015<br />
Emmy's favorite fall book is Duck and Goose find a Pumpkin. It has been a household staple since she was a few months old. Because of that book I take her to the pumpkin patch every year in El Campo, so she can find a pumpkin too...and take a bunch of photos.<br />
<br />
When we got to the patch this year, we found our pals Jackson and Wyatt. These four are going to be so close.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24328496135/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0064"><img alt="2016-01-11_0064" height="800" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1598/24328496135_e8f4b83404_c.jpg" width="740" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
They were ready to leave, so we stayed on course and kept going alone. We knew we only had a limited amount of time before we needed to leave for Dylan's party.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24328460845/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0065"><img alt="2016-01-11_0065" height="800" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1470/24328460845_8915af03e0_c.jpg" width="707" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24032907200/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0066"><img alt="2016-01-11_0066" height="800" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1624/24032907200_104c2ce746_c.jpg" width="707" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
They sky was a little overcast, so it really was one of the nicer times we have had at the patch. Juggling two little people was different, but we managed our expectations and our time. Things that would have made me cry when Emmy was a baby (and I still believed in perfection) were laughed off that day.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/23701674313/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0067"><img alt="2016-01-11_0067" height="375" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1498/23701674313_fd2fcdbb6c_c.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>

<br />
<br />
It was probably the most fun we have had at the pumpkin patch, and we made it in and out of there in just a little over an hour. We need to do more things with that laid back carefree attitude!<br />
<br />Ashleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05764676825066373112noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2601437807236271607.post-25884548470540286642015-10-01T16:26:00.000-07:002016-01-07T19:07:14.231-08:00Lincoln- Month Five<div>
You weigh 15.4 pounds and 25 inches tall (long). You wear size two diapers and you still wear size 3-6 clothes. You are still just the happiest baby and a joy to have around.<br />
<br /></div>
You can roll over both ways, so we cannot just leave you lying on the bed anymore. Now let us all bow our heads and say a prayer for your Mommy's sanity now that you are becoming more mobile. <br />
<br />
Okay. And moving on.<br />
<br />
You shriek and squeal with laughter when tickled, and you especially like when your Daddy acts like he is going to eat your stomach. You laugh so hard that you almost cry. You realize when you have been left alone now, and you aren't too crazy about it. The double edged sword is that you respond positively to just my presence. So while I can just walk into the room and you feel better, I have to walk into the room. You are going through a small "mommy" phase, and sometimes other people just don't do it for you. The exception to this is the ladies from school. You practically jump out of my arms every morning to get to them.<br />
<br />
You can sit up (with protection around you) for a few moments now. We like to sit you up in the middle of the bed or on the rug in the living room with pillows all around you. You will sit there for a few seconds and then your whole body will just plop over to the side. It's incredibly cute when I know that you are safe. You have the biggest smile. I just can't emphasize that one enough. It melts my heart every time. This could be very dangerous in a few years.<br />
<br />
You went to Andrew's ring day (College Station), to meet Elizabeth Kathleen (Pearland), the Downtown Houston Aquarium, and Cookie's bridal shower among other various events.<br />
<br />
<span style="text-align: center;">You like: chewing on your fingers, eating anything we will put on a spoon and head your way, playing with the lion and giraffe on your car seat, playing and getting tickled, your pacifier is still the biggest asset we have with you (you love it), playing on the floor, your jungle gym mat, looking at the TV and listening to music, hugging everyone, kisses, and snuggling.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="background-color: white; clear: both; color: #817e7e; font-family: Raleway, sans-serif; font-size: 17px; line-height: 27.2px; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
You dislike: Being left alone, Mommy walking out of the room, being "forced" to be somewhere (like strapped into a seat or swing You just want to move at will), the dark, your pacifier coming out in the car and not being able to reach it, and not being fed quickly enough.<br />
<br />
<br />
You eat: green beans, milk, and water.<br />
<br />
<br />
Monthly and weekly photos are below. <br />
<br />
This one showcases that killer smile I was talking about earlier.<br />

We had the video camera, big camera, and phones out ready to document this momentous occasion with our whole hearts (and technology). Since I had been in charge of all nutrition up to this point, I let Bradley give him his first solid food--green beans. I'm not going to lie. The reaction was a little anticlimactic. He started eating those green beans like they were going out of style. Not once did he pause or slow down because of the texture. He was READY to eat. <br />
<br />
Bradley even joked that maybe he had already been eating at school when Lincoln STOLE THE SPOON and tried to FEED HIMSELF! I joked that he must get it from me because the good Lord knows that I don't have any problem getting a fork to my mouth either. ;)<br />

It was finally my turn to give a try too, and little boy didn't disappoint. We had to shovel it in pretty quick to keep on his good side.<br />

<br />
One small bite of green beans but a giant leap for Lincoln. My little boy is growing up too fast!<br />
<br />
<br />Ashleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05764676825066373112noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2601437807236271607.post-52987128898400535712015-09-25T08:43:00.000-07:002016-01-19T10:42:35.818-08:00Andrew and Kari Get RingsKari's beau Andrew was getting his Aggie ring. Being the nice guy that he is, he invited us to come to College Station for the celebration. Since we love CS and think Andrew is pretty great too, we accepted the invitation.<br />
<br />
Ring day has changed a little since "my day" and they now hand out all of the rings in the foyer area of the Association. It is beautiful in there and super bright for pictures.<br />
<br />
I love this sweet shot of Andrew and his mom. I hope that I get to give Lincoln his little piece of Aggie gold one day too.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/23960079619/" title="2016-01-11_0032"><img alt="2016-01-11_0032" height="800" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1593/23960079619_93b3357c44_c.jpg" width="598" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
Now they both have a little bling to show off when they Gig'em.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24301710056/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0033"><img alt="2016-01-11_0033" height="800" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1527/24301710056_3bfe5457d3_c.jpg" width="538" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
We didn't know until we were already on our way that Andrew changed his mind about when he was going to propose and HE DECIDED TO DO IT THAT DAY! I guess that ring was burning a hole in his pocket. I think Kari suspected but really wasn't sure that it would happen that day. It was very sweet.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24219683522/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0034"><img alt="2016-01-11_0034" height="800" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1477/24219683522_538c97b07d_c.jpg" width="598" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
So two pieces of gold were given that fateful day in September. <br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/23960075849/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0035"><img alt="2016-01-11_0035" height="800" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1649/23960075849_b6325d2f64_c.jpg" width="793" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
Lincoln thought all of the happy hugs and pretty fountains were great.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/23701072723/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0036"><img alt="2016-01-11_0036" height="800" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1442/23701072723_14677e20fe_c.jpg" width="538" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
And of course there needed to be celebratory photos to mark the occasion.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24301706166/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0037"><img alt="2016-01-11_0037" height="375" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1529/24301706166_595c762a5f_c.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24327884295/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0038"><img alt="2016-01-11_0038" height="569" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1587/24327884295_a37c03e94f_c.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
Someday soon, this will be Kari and Andrew's set of siblings. I don't think they're ready for this jelly...<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/23701071323/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0039"><img alt="2016-01-11_0039" height="540" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1446/23701071323_bdc7628328_c.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
Emmy wanted a photo with Andrew too.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24301705066/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0040"><img alt="2016-01-11_0040" height="800" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1643/24301705066_73419bfe75_c.jpg" width="598" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
Since it was Lincoln's first trip to the Association, we thought we should have a photo too.<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
Aren't these two just adorable!<br />

<br />
<br />
By the time we got home, this little guy was partied out, but still just as sweet as ever.<br />
<br />

<br />
Congratulation Kari and Andrew! We can't wait to share in all the memories that are coming soon. :)Ashleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05764676825066373112noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2601437807236271607.post-17231636184707485662015-09-01T14:15:00.000-07:002016-01-06T09:16:24.103-08:00Lincoln- Month Four<div>
<br /></div>
You wear three month clothes now from Carters and 3-6 from everywhere else. You wear size 2 diapers You weigh 14.5 pounds and are 24 inches. <br />
<br />
You eat every three-and-a-half to four hours. When you are at daycare, I really try to get them to stick to the four hour mark since I only get to pump twice while I am gone during the day. You sleep from around 10:30 or 11:00 until 6:30 when I wake you up to eat before school. Our morning routine consists of me getting ready, getting Emmy ready and then feeding you at the table while we eat breakfast. So far that seems to be working out for you.<br />
<br />
You can push up on your stomach for a long time, you can roll, but you won't unless you are mad, you can annihilate a bottle, you try to stand up by yourself and push off if we are holding you, you can (still) hold yourself up in our arms. I'm pretty sure that I could carry you around on my hip and you would be fine. I'm still enjoying the close snuggles though so I carry you around close to my chest.<br />
<br />
You traveled to Dallas this month on your first family vacation. You visited a water park, the downtown Dallas area, the Fort Worth Zoo, the stockyards, and other places. You were an excellent traveling companion. Even though it was as hot as Hades, you were content to go with the flow and see all of the sights. There were a few times that I got nervous with you in the heat so we gave you some water from a straw and put some cool compresses here and there. You were fine, but Mommy worried. <br />
<br />
As you probably got from earlier comments, you started daycare this month too. Those ladies are enthralled with you and you are pretty sweet on them too. I was much better when it was time to leave you and I almost made it out the door without shedding some tears. A few well meaning comments from one of Emmy's teachers sent me over the edge. You are fine though, and I know that getting to be apart some is the best for both of us.<br />
<div>
<br />
<div>
You like: being held, smiling at people, looking/staring at everything around you, watching animals move around (the zoo was awesome for you), being swaddled at night, eating like a big boy, lying and playing with your toy gym, and talking and playing with your sister (other than me she might be your favorite). </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
You dislike: Being hot and sweaty (August was a bummer for you), waking up before you are ready, being startled, not being fed quickly enough, waking up alone, mosquitoes, and getting out of the pool if it is already cool outside. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
You eat: green beans (1s), water, and milk. (We are living on the edge here.)<br />
<br />

Our usual vacation bunch was busy, and our baby sister was pining away for us in Dallas so that seemed to be the place to go. We headed out fairly early on a Wednesday morning. Someone was bright-eyed and bushy-tailed.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24301730796/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0004"><img alt="2016-01-11_0004" height="533" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1696/24301730796_6c54335082_c.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
We stopped in Ellenger to try to Kolaches at the Czeck Stop. They were pretty good, but I think Praseks has them beat. Then our next stop wasn't until Waco where we visited Magnolia Market. We are all fans of Fixer-Upper, so it was nice pit-stop.<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24327914045/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0005"><img alt="2016-01-11_0005" height="800" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1546/24327914045_3d397f5d7d_c.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
We didn't stop again until we reached Fort Worth. It was half price admission to the zoo, so we decided to finish out our day there. I am so glad that we decided to do that in the late afternoon because it was HOT. It was so hot that we were giving Lincoln water from our water bottle and putting dip-n-dots on the back of his neck to cool him down. I really don't think that we could have made it an entire day so the 2.5 hours that we had were perfect.<br />
<br />
You know these guys are always down for the zoo.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/23699691784/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0015"><img alt="2016-01-11_0015" height="719" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1692/23699691784_5b6f7bfe80_b.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
Emmy and Lincoln sure do like spending time with Papa and Nana.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/23701089653/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0016"><img alt="2016-01-11_0016" height="598" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1509/23701089653_0a936edd5c_b.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>

<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24219696912/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0018"><img alt="2016-01-11_0018" height="540" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1499/24219696912_d5fe106f0a_b.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
We made sure we got in a picture with our babies though. Did I mention that I carried him around in the MOBY since the stroller was under a bunch of stuff. My shirt was dripping with sweat by the time we left. This is not hyperbole. I could have wrung out my shirt and collected moisture...not that I would have since that's gross, bur the possibility was there all the same.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/23699685104/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0025"><img alt="2016-01-11_0025" height="1024" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1719/23699685104_5b84b2dcfa_b.jpg" width="688" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
As you can see from her pink cheeks, this cool chick was pretty warm too.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24327898815/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0026"><img alt="2016-01-11_0026" height="1024" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1689/24327898815_1780480a85_b.jpg" width="688" /></a><br />
<br />
You know us. We had to stop and take advantage of the photo op.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24219688852/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0027"><img alt="2016-01-11_0027" height="1024" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1638/24219688852_52ac4e0348_b.jpg" width="766" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
By the time we left the zoo, we were hot, dehydrated, and starving because we didn't eat lunch on the way. We flew to the hotel to meet Kari and Andrew, drop off our stuff, and head out to dinner.<br />
<br />
I got on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives and we found a place in Fort Worth that had AMAZING hamburgers. It was called <a href="http://www.foodnetwork.com/restaurants/tx/arlington/chop-house-burgers-restaurant.html">Chop House Burgers</a>, and it was like a piece of heaven floated down and landed on my plate.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/23701096293/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0006"><img alt="2016-01-11_0006" height="706" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1654/23701096293_a115878628_b.jpg" width="799" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/23960098059/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0007"><img alt="2016-01-11_0007" height="390" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1600/23960098059_5d4519c145_b.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
The next day, we planned a trip to a water park called Hawaiian Falls. After trying to function in the sweltering heat at the zoo, we knew we needed a day of water and relaxation. This place was perfect! We rented a cabana, and it was money well spent. The cabana came with free drinks all day--that a waiter delivered to you! He also came by and took our food orders, and since we were in a cabana, the food was discounted. What I am trying to say is that I will never want to go to a water park and just sit my stuff on a picnic bench again--especially not with little kids. I am completely spoiled now.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/23699696174/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0008"><img alt="2016-01-11_0008" height="390" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1447/23699696174_9eb516ba68_b.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
Emmy loved everything about the park, and she would not have left the water all day if someone would have stayed in with her. She is my water baby. Lincoln did pretty well and napped in and out of the water, but we took lots of cabana breaks. It was nice to have the shade and a place to relax.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24219702892/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0009"><img alt="2016-01-11_0009" height="568" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1486/24219702892_1904f79f92_b.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24327917565/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0001"><img alt="2016-01-11_0001" height="650" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1555/24327917565_294a95b1bc_c.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
While we were in the wave pool, she said, "Mommy take my picture. I'm floating!" And Below is a picture of the cutest lifeguard you'll ever meet.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24301732836/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0002"><img alt="2016-01-11_0002" height="800" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1579/24301732836_f81cd3b20b_c.jpg" width="459" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
Nana and Papa rode this slide when the line was down. Mom said she thought they were going to fly off the other side.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24032322180/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0010"><img alt="2016-01-11_0010" height="832" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1715/24032322180_746de4a0d2_b.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
Our group had a pretty nice day, and we will totally go back when we come to visit Kari during the summer.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24245389541/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0011"><img alt="2016-01-11_0011" height="765" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1526/24245389541_d5cd7e4cde_b.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
The next day, our itinerary consisted of exploring downtown Dallas. Dad got on Groupon and found a deal for an electric car tour. This is code for a little man driving us around in a souped up golf cart that looks like a Bentley. Before our tour, we went to Hard Rock Cafe for lunch. It was not too crowded so Emmy got on stage for a picture.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24219700322/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0012"><img alt="2016-01-11_0012" height="650" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1655/24219700322_afd788cbbb_b.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
Our tour guide was great. He knew all kinds of little stories and weird facts about the buildings that made it so interesting. The only downside was that since it was on open-air car, there wasn't air conditioning. Lincoln and I ended up on the side that was not as shaded, and I got a little worried about his temperature a few times. I took baby wipes and kept cooling him down on his temples, neck, and under his arms. I gave him a few sips of my water too, and he was fine.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24032316280/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0019"><img alt="2016-01-11_0019" height="1024" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1588/24032316280_a8359546e7_b.jpg" width="688" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
We asked our guide to stop and let me a take picture with the Dallas BIG statue. I didn't think everyone else was interested, but THEY WERE. Too funny.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24301720586/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0020"><img alt="2016-01-11_0020" height="811" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1715/24301720586_cca51131ae_b.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
I was really interested in the history of the Kennedy cenotaph (I know our tour guide taught me that word. It means open tomb). It's such a unique and large structure just kind of deposited in the middle of the downtown area. If you didn't know all of the history and relevance, it would seem very surreal. I made Emmy and Lincoln stand there so I would have something to use as scale. <br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/23960088959/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0021"><img alt="2016-01-11_0021" height="540" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1705/23960088959_1cf459a350_b.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
These two weren't upset when it was time to head back to the hotel and cool down. In fact, they may have been excited about it.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24245375971/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0028"><img alt="2016-01-11_0028" height="598" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1627/24245375971_3d3148d5e6_b.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24327896015/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0029"><img alt="2016-01-11_0029" height="540" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1545/24327896015_5b16515301_b.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
Some of us slept really well that night.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24032319850/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0013"><img alt="2016-01-11_0013" height="650" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1644/24032319850_bd18d547fb_b.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
Then we were on our last day of sightseeing, and we were headed to the Stockyards. We ate at Riscky's, and it was pretty good.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24327907635/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0014"><img alt="2016-01-11_0014" height="390" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1580/24327907635_a81622a048_b.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24327902905/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0022"><img alt="2016-01-11_0022" height="598" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1518/24327902905_ee3cf896c5_b.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
We went all super tourist and let Emmy take a picture on the steer. It's little things like this that she really remembers about our vacations. Nana decided that she couldn't take a picture on the steer without a Cowgirl hat, so she got one of those as well. She also convinced her Papa to let her take a spin on the play horse that they had.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24327902175/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0023"><img alt="2016-01-11_0023" height="568" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1719/24327902175_bf2338d7e8_b.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24301717876/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0024"><img alt="2016-01-11_0024" height="1024" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1595/24301717876_ca170bdffa_b.jpg" width="766" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
We always have fun when we go somewhere with these two.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/24327895455/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0030"><img alt="2016-01-11_0030" height="540" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1706/24327895455_77cff5d9ec_b.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
While we were waiting on the train, a little band started playing country music by the train station. Kari and Andrew decided that they would put on a little show for the people waiting. It was cute.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/23960080219/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0031"><img alt="2016-01-11_0031" height="540" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1555/23960080219_2423798a08_b.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
I was soooo glad that we paid more and sprang for the air-conditioned seats on the train. It felt like we were in some other time period going on a different kind of vacation. Until the staff came by and started taking souvenir photos. ;)<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/23699699634/in/photostream/" title="2016-01-11_0003"><img alt="2016-01-11_0003" height="390" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1709/23699699634_680f927261_c.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
We stayed one more night before we headed back home. It was a super fun trip, and I know that we will be back to explore more in the coming years since Kari will be moving there. Watch out Dallas; we'll be back!Ashleyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05764676825066373112noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2601437807236271607.post-22749860098150461792015-08-01T09:35:00.000-07:002015-12-27T16:08:03.743-08:00Lincoln- Month ThreeYou have officially outgrown your newborn clothes. They fit, but the way they split you down the middle can't be comfortable. 0-3 still fit, but I am putting them all away this week so I can get your next set ready before I go to school. You wear size 1 diapers still. They are fitting a little snug though so I may take your two boxes of ones back to the store for 2s. You weigh 13 pounds even and are 23 inches. <br />
<br />
You eat every three to four hours. I am trying to slowly edge it towards the four hour mark. You sleep from around 10:30 or 11:00 until at least 4:30. Most nights it is at least 5:30. When we are lucky, you will doze until 7:00 or 7:30.<br />
<br />
You traveled to Austin and Marble Falls this month to see your Daddy's family for the 4th of July. You also made your first trip to Grannie Nelson's house. Both trips went extremely well. You slept a lot of the way there and when we stopped to go to the restroom, we changed and fed you and kept trucking.<br />
<br />
You go pretty much anywhere and everywhere. You enjoy going to the Country Club to go swimming and watching your sister go down the slide.<br />
<br />
You like your swing, nursing, the rock-n-play, being talked to, "the
Bohemian bounce", snuggles, watching everything that your sister does, looking at the colors of the tv, your floor mat and all of the hanging toys, Mommy and Lincoln time, and swinging.<br />
<br />
You don't like staying by yourself for too long (you can stay a lot longer than your sister did though) (and we never really leave you we just get out of your range of sight), being forced to wait to eat, being hot (Texas can be cruel buddy), shots, and being woken up from a nap by Sissy.<br />

She was a lot more willing this year than she has been in the past. She had a great time swimming around and learning new things. By the end of the two weeks, we were having fights when I took her swimming at the CC about whether or not she had to wear her puddle jumper when she went down the slide. Enjoy some photos of my little mermaid at her lessons.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
She was ready to go on her first day!<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/20266104011/in/photostream/" title="2015-08-03_0035"><img alt="2015-08-03_0035" height="800" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/397/20266104011_f3cd9eb79a_c.jpg" width="538" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
Before you get to swim, you have to warm-up and do your kicks and submerge yourself under the water.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/20260233475/in/photostream/" title="2015-08-03_0036"><img alt="2015-08-03_0036" height="800" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/497/20260233475_e4ca4b7247_c.jpg" width="598" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
When you get a little more advanced, you can practice diving.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/19637600904/in/photostream/" title="2015-08-03_0037"><img alt="2015-08-03_0037" height="189" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/290/19637600904_9e484499dc_c.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
And there is always time for play at the end. <br />

<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/20281791126/in/photostream/" title="IMG_2795"><img alt="IMG_2795" height="800" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/467/20281791126_9a0932508e_c.jpg" width="534" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
You slept through the night the night before Emmy's birthday, had your first smile the next day, and started to coo a little and make more noises.<br />
<br />
You still wear newborn clothes and could wear newborn diapers, but I have lots of 1s, sow we moved to those. You can wear 0-3 clothes now too, so your wardrobe has expanded. At your check-up, you weighed 11 pounds and 6 ounces. You were 21.5 inches. You are a very eager eater!<br />
<br />
You still eat every three hours for now, but I don't worry if it stretches out because your thighs are showing that you have plenty of extra to hold you over. You have been sleeping through the night pretty consistently since the night before your sister's birthday. I was so startled when I woke up that morning to sunlight and realized you hadn't woken me up. I reached into your bed and woke you up for once (because Mommy needed you to eat!). You smiled so big at me as you woke up. You still wake up occasionally around 3:30 to eat, and that's just fine with Mommy. After some reading that I did, I have been trying to get myself to wake up around then when you don't, to go pump, but the struggle is real...and I really don't want to wake up most nights.<br />
<br />
You and your sister are still getting along. She thinks you are the bee's knees and you love to watch her play and dance. Maybe I will get lucky and you will always love each other like that...but chances are there will be times when you don't like each other very much.<br />
<br />
Your travels:<br />
We take you everywhere now. You go out to lunch, to church, the store (occasionally), and you are no stranger to a good road trip. You"suffer" through it all with a good-natured nap. <br />
<br />
You like your swing, nursing, the rock-n-play, being talked to, "the Bohemian bounce", snuggles, lying on the bed looking at the ceiling fan, talking to sissy, smiling, and swinging.<br />
<br />
You don't like being wet, being splashed (at the pool by your sister), the feeling of hunger (join the club buddy), loud startling noises, or being forgotten (when we leave you in once place for too long without talking or playing with you).<br />
<br />
<br />

It was an amazing idea that I hope they will continue in the future. <br />
<br />
Before church, Emmy gave her daddy the card that she and Lincoln worked on. She was so proud of her hard work, and it was adorable if I do say so myself.<br />
<br />
<a data-flickr-embed="true" href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/49761161@N08/20266108621/in/photostream/" title="2015-08-03_0031"><img alt="2015-08-03_0031" height="540" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/311/20266108621_25a084d6e3_c.jpg" width="800" /></a><script async="" charset="utf-8" src="//embedr.flickr.com/assets/client-code.js"></script>
<br />
<br />
Was there any surprise that our family showed up decked out in Aggie gear?<br />

Lincoln made sure to tell Papa Happy Father's Day too.<br />

My whole little world wrapped up in one photo guys. I think Bradley looks pretty happy too. I'm glad we could take some time out to make him feel appreciated. He works so hard to make sure that we are all happy and cared for. Love you Bradley! You are an amazing dad.<br />
