Easter 2015

This Easter was kind of special because we are finally getting to the point where Emmy understands the concept of holidays and their special meaning.  We read books about Easter and we had a talk about how this is a special day for Jesus.  I'm saying she really understood all of the intricacies, but our level of comprehension was light years ahead of previous years.

We started off the morning with some photos of the princess in her Easter dress.  This was followed by a small freak out on my part when my CF card malfunctioned and I lost everything.  Luckily we were up early so I popped a new card into my camera and did my best to recreate everything that we had done.

Look at my sweet girl with Teddy.  They are best friends and pretty much inseparable.

I thought that she would wear her pretty church shoes, but of course my sweet little girl insisted on wearing her cowboy boots.  They have been in every major photograph that we have taken for almost two years.  At least we got our money's worth out of them I guess.

Our flowers just happened to bloom the day before Easter, so she needed a picture with the "pretty flowers."

Later Emmy had the opportunity to search for Easter eggs.  It was quite a sight to see 12-15 adults following this little girl around the yard as she looks for the eggs.

It was a beautiful day spent with family, friends, and our church.  May we always remember that this holiday is not about food, bunnies, or eggs.  It is about the fact that HE IS RISEN!

Easter Sunday

Easter is a special holiday for our family.  Not special in a "we celebrate in a big way," but it is special because we reflect on everything that Christ did for us.  Growing up, we did not really celebrate the way everyone else did.  We didn't hunt eggs and the Easter Bunny didn't visit our house.  I am okay with that.  I don't think I was deprived, and I don't know that I really missed out on anything.

We have decided to do things slightly different with Emmy.  We still focus on the reason for the holiday--Jesus Christ--but we are letting her participate in some of the other fun.  She knows the Easter Bunny isn't real, but she gets to join in on some of the fun things that other people do like hunting eggs.

And this girl can hunt some eggs.  BUT...I am getting ahead of myself.

First we went to church.

Then we went to Mom's house for lunch because we live in a small town and most of the resturants were closed for the holiday...as it should be.  The food was delicious.

Then it was finally time for the main event--the Easter egg hunt.  She had so much fun.  There were so  many eggs that she needed several baskets to collect them all.

When she was finished, she hid them all so we could have a turn "finding" them.  Most of them were dumped in a pile by the tree.  Hopefully she gets better at hiding stuff.  If she doesn't, I guess my job will be super easy when she's a teenager.

It was a beautiful day, and we enjoyed getting to spend time with people we love.  I am so thankful for a savior that was willing to give his life so that we can live this beautiful life.

Happy Easter!

Daycare Easter Egg Hunt

So I didn't actually make it to Emmy's Egg Hunt.  I got there just as everyone was going back inside and washing hands.  AND THE MOTHER OF THE YEAR AWARD GOES TO.....not me.  It's really hard to get to her school for all of these little events.  I hate asking other people to watch my classes, and I just can't in good conscience take the whole morning off for a 15 minute egg hunt.  Anyway, I missed it.  Fortunately, I am good friends with an awesome Mom (Shout out to JULIE!) that hooked me up with some great photos.

This is Emmy with her basket after her mommy showed up late.

They were obviously really into this.

After school, I made the two BFFs pose for a photo.  They are just so sweet together.

Next time, I will take the time off.  I just have to remind myself that she will only be this little once.
