Emmy I didn't leave our house for TWO WHOLE DAYS.  We didn't go to the grocery store.  We didn't play on the trampoline.  We didn't go visit the new puppies at Nana's house.  We stayed at our house. Indoors.  On Wednesday we were waiting for the DirectTV people to come.  They were supposed to be here between 12:00 & 4:00.  They got here at 5:45, and I sure wasn't going to leave them here alone, so indoors we stayed.  --They also didn't finish until after 8:30

On Thursday, my little diva watched TV in her pjs and played with dolls while I sat in on  an online photography seminar on CreativeLive.  It was amazing!

Thursday afternoon, my dad called and said that he wanted all of us to go with him to Kemah to eat with my Uncle Ben before he went back to Washinton.  So...I guess that meant that we had to get dressed for the day.

So at 5:00 (p.m.) I started getting Emmy ready.  I grabbed a little sundress that would be cute but comfortable for the 1.5 hour trip.  It was, in my opinion, a cute dress.

I got her diaper changed and put the matching panties on, and it was time to put on the dress.  Emmarie looked at the dress, and here is where things got interesting.

Me: Emmy, let's put on your dress.
Emmy: I don't want to wear that dress.  I hate that dress.
Me: WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU HATE THIS DRESS?!?  I don't think you have ever even worn it. 
Emmy: (looks at me sullenly)
Me: You ARE going to wear this dress.
Emmy: (in an off-handed manner) Oh, okay.

I am practicing deep breathing techniques while writing this because it already gives me hives thinking about what she will be like at 16.

H&M

You know those moments in your life when you can just feel that something has changed?

I have had one of those moments.  I am not going to go into a lot of details because this isn't a melodramatic pity blog or anything like that, but I have not been super happy with my self image since Emmy was born.  It just seems that none of my clothes fit just the way I want them to, and when I try to buy new clothes, I can never find anything that suits my taste.  Everything is either stuff that my grandmother would wear or something the little girls at school would wear.

I usually end my shopping trips discouraged and empty handed...at least for myself.  I can always find a million cute things for Emmy.

Well all of this ended while I was in Santa Monica last month. I went in a H&M store to buy Britt and Kari something for their birthdays.  I had heard about the store from shows like What Not to Wear, and I knew that they had nice but affordable clothes that were fashionable.

As I walked into the store, it was as if the Mother ship had called me home. I immediately saw twenty things that I would want to wear.  Well needless to say, I picked out some things for Brittany and Kari, but because we were in a hurry and I was not feeling my best, I did not buy myself anything.

While we were in Austin, I made asked Bradley to take me to the new H&M there.  I have never left a store so happy.  I found so many amazing outfits, cardigans, shirts, and accessories. I also found our whole family coordinating outfits for our pictures in June because (SCORE!) they have a Men's and Children's department too.

Needless to say, this is my few favorite store. Ever.

Headbands

I am obsessed with headbands! I have always loved them, but since I graduated from high school, this love has returned and grown stronger. I think it makes perfect sense. I have TONS of hair. This hair is VERY unruly. A headband's purpose is to keep your hair back and out of your face. IT IS LIKE THEY WERE CREATING THEM FOR ME!!



My favorite place to get headbands is Forever21. They never fail to dazzle me with new designs and styles. Very, VERY rarely to do I leave that store without an overpriced headband in a cute yellow bag. The last time I was at the store they had this little piece of wonderful!





I ALMOST DIED. The picture does not do it justice. Unfortunately, I did not buy the headband. It was over my justifiable limit since I could not think of one place in the next year that I would be able to wear it. I will keep my on it though, and if they go on sale, BAM(!!) it's mine!


I am also keeping my eye on this awesome maroon and houndstooth headband that I found at Aggieland Outfitters. They currently want over $17, but we shall see who gets the last laugh in this little fashion battle! More later!
